Dear Friends and Supporters,
It gives me enormous pleasure to introduce Opera Forge — an exciting new London-based opera company founded with the ambition of creating opera of the very highest artistic standard whilst building a vibrant and enduring community around this extraordinary art form.
Over many years through Opera Spy, I have had the privilege of championing outstanding artists and productions across the operatic world. It is therefore especially exciting to support the launch of a company bringing together exceptional musical talent, visionary creative leadership and genuine artistic ambition at such an important time for opera in the United Kingdom.
Opera Forge’s inaugural production will be Wagner’s monumental Die Walküre - one of the most thrilling and emotionally powerful works in the operatic canon. The production will be semi-staged by the legendary bass Sir John Tomlinson, one of the most revered Wagnerians of our time, whose unparalleled experience and profound understanding of this repertoire bring extraordinary artistic distinction to the project.
Opera Forge’s Artistic and Musical Director, Kelvin Lim, will conduct the acclaimed Orpheus Sinfonia, leading an exceptional cast and orchestra in what promises to be a deeply compelling and musically thrilling interpretation of Wagner’s masterpiece. The performances will take place on 22 November & 6 December 2026, at Duke’s Hall in Marylebone.
I warmly encourage you to discover Opera Forge and to become part of its journey from the very beginning!
By booking tickets, subscribing to Opera Forge’s mailing list and becoming a Forge Friend, you will help support the growth of an important new operatic enterprise committed to artistic excellence, opportunity and audience engagement.
Forge Friends will enjoy closer involvement with the company through exclusive updates, priority access, discounted tickets, complimentary programmes, special events and unique behind-the-scenes insights into future productions and projects.
This inaugural production is only the beginning. Opera Forge has ambitious plans for future performances, collaborations and artistic initiatives, and I have no doubt that the company will quickly establish itself as an exciting new presence within the operatic landscape.
I hope you will join me in supporting Opera Forge as it embarks upon this remarkable new chapter.
With warmest wishes,
David Buchler, Opera Spy
